Top Players In March Madness

Published on Tuesday, March 15, 2011

lj-smithWith the NBA betting online season entering its home stretch, many fans are wondering what the March Madness tournament will hold for their team’s come draft time in June. For fans betting on March Madness, part of the appeal over the years, has been the fact that the tournament raises the stock of players that only their home fans knew anything about. Here is a look at several players fans should keep their eyes on.

  • Kawhi Leonard F SDSU Aztecs – Over the last few years, the San Diego State Aztecs have gone from NCAA division I doormat, to one of the best teams in the entire nation. This year, the Aztecs were an incredible 30 and two during the regular season and conference tournament combined. Part of the reason the Aztecs have had so much success, is because of small forward Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard is a new type of big man that every NBA scout should have their eyes set on during March Madness. Kawhi leads his teams in all three of points, rebounds and steals. As opposed to being your typical swing man that’s only good at dunking, Leonard is a player you could build your franchise around. The Aztecs will be looking to make a serious push in this year’s March Madness tournament and if they win, look for Leonard to be the MVP of the entire tournament.

  • Josh Selby G Kansas Jayhawks – The Kansas Jayhawks are one of those teams that really frustrate fans and bettors alike. On the one hand they have all the talent in the world and should be a March Madness dynasty team. On the other hand, they can’t seem to put it all together and win in the big dance.

Enter Josh Selby, the first year star guard for the Jayhawks, has all the tools NBA teams dream about. His skills have allowed him and the rest of the Jayhawks, the opportunity to climb to the second best record in the NCAA and a number one seed in this year’s March Madness tournament. If this year is indeed the Jayhawks year to lift the Naismith Trophy as the nation’s best team, it will be thanks to Selby.
