The second day of the March Madness betting Sweet 16 round is upon us, and fans from across the nation can’t help but look ahead to the Final Four in a little over a week. To say the 2011 March Madness betting tournament has been unpredictable would be putting it lightly. Without knowing who will win the Ohio State vs. Kentucky and Kansas vs. Richmond games tonight, here is our newest Final Four prediction.
This year’s Final Four will feature the Ohio State Buckeyes taking on the Arizona Wildcats in a battle of the East region champion vs. West region champion, while the VCU Rams take on the Butler Bulldogs in a battle of the Southwest region champion vs. Southeast champion.
For the majority of the tournament, we have been preaching that the Kansas Jayhawks will win the National Title. However, as you can see by our aforementioned Final Four, we have VCU taking their spots as the Southwest region champion. Essentially, VCU started the tournament as one of the teams in the dreaded first four round, which features bubble teams battling it out for the final spots in the second round of the tournament. However, rather than crumble under the pressure, VCU became the first team to go from the first four round all the way to the Sweet 16.
VCU plays Florida State tonight, in a battle of the 11th seeded taking on the 10th seed. Florida State is no easy task, as they led the nation in defensive play for the 2010-11 seasons and VCU best not take them lightly. Our main argument for why VCU will make it to the Final Four is the fact, they with the short break in action, they have been able to build a good plan for an extended push in the tournament.
