Final Four Preview

Published on Tuesday, March 29, 2011

lj-smithThe 2011 March Madness betting tournament is coming to an end, as the Final Four teams in the tournament are set to do battle this coming Saturday. Going into the tournament, we always knew that all great betting online events have to come to a close. However, we did not expect these four teams to be the Final Four teams in the tournament!

In fact, for the first time ever in the history of the tournament, none of the number one seeds and none of the number two seeds are a part of the Final Four! The UConn Huskies as a three seed are the highest seed remaining in the tournament, while the Virginia Commonwealth Rams are the lowest seed to make the tournament in nearly a decade, as they are ranked 11th overall.  The Kentucky Wildcats at number four and Butler Bulldogs at eighth round out remaining combatants.

If you aren’t cheering for the VCU Rams, you aren’t a fan of the feel good moments that sports tournaments provide its fan base each and every day. The VCU Rams started the tournament, by playing in the at large bid games, for the teams known as the ‘on the bubble’ teams. However, five games later, the VCU Rams have shown the world, that any team on any given night has a chance to go far in the March Madness tournament.

Meanwhile, the Butler Bulldogs have silenced all of their critics by returning to the March Madness tournament for the second year in a row, this time as a lower seed then last year. For Butler, this year was about proving to everyone, that they didn’t get to the 2010 finals by fluke, but rather with hard work. This year they have returned to the Final Four with a chance to win a National Title.

Kentucky and UConn are two really good schools when it comes to college basketball. However, to be honest, we as many of our colleagues will also agree to, only felt that Kentucky and Conn would make the Final Four if Ohio State and Duke bowed out.  Of the four teams remaining, Kentucky has to be considered the favorite to win the entire tournament, thanks in large part to back to back victories, first over Ohio State and then over North Carolina.
