Preakness betting enthusiasts also handicapping college basketball should be looking forward to next season, as many of this past season’s stars prepare to lace up the Air Jordan’s for another year. For the first time in about five seasons, sports betting handicappers will be able to watch several dominant college basketball programs instead of two or three. Here is an early look at the rankings for the top teams in the NCAA.
Duke Blue Devils – Despite losing Kyrie Irving, Nolan Smith and Kyle Singler to the NBA draft, Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski isn’t concerned about Duke’s chances in the 2011 – 12 seasons. With the return of the Plumlee brothers, Seth Curry, Andre Dawkins, and the debut of freshman Austin Rivers, the Blue Devils appear to be in pretty good shape headed into next season. However, one thing that will have to change is the Blue Devils defensive scheme, as Duke looked really confused at times during the March Madness tournament. Many experts feel this could be the year that Duke takes a step back, but in our opinion, a little bit of fine tuning defensively, is all they need to remain one of the best teams in the nation.
Ohio State Buckeyes – The Buckeyes were the best team in the NCAA during the regular season last year, finishing the year with the best record at 33 wins and three losses. Yet, they couldn’t get the job done in the March Madness tournament, bowing out to a really good Kentucky Wildcats team in the Elite Eight round of the tournament. That being said, the Buckeyes will be returning Jarred Sullinger, DeShaun Thomas and William Bufford, three of their biggest contributors during the 2010 – 11 seasons. Sullinger had a shot at being the top pick in this year’s draft but turned it down for a shot at a March Madness title.
